London Councils has warned that government policies on tackling child poverty are failing to address the capital's problems. Cllr James Kempton, executive member for children and young people, said: ‘Policies like the childcare element in working tax credits are not working in London, due to higher costs of housing, transport and childcare. Action is urgently needed.'
