The Royal Borough of Kingston is one London's top performing boroughs in street services, working hard to keep the borough clean, safe and attractive for residents and visitors alike. We have recently brought together our highways and street scene teams to create a new, multidisciplinary team delivering a suite of services focused on creating and maintaining our outstanding public realm. We're now looking for a new manager for this team.

With a budget of £5.5m per annum, Street Services are high profile and front line, with customer service at their heart. From managing high value roads maintenance, street lighting and winter maintenance contracts, to overseeing the Council's newly established highway permitting team, you'll be responsible for a broad range of universal services which are highly valued by the public. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to re-shape the newly joined-up team, to maximise efficiency and ensure it continues to respond to the current financial challenge. In the medium term, the Council will also consider options to recommission a suite of environmental services, including those that are part of Street Services. As Service Manager, you'll take a lead role in this process, ensuring staff and service requirements are fully considered as it develops.

We're looking for an experienced manager who can demonstrate working knowledge of the range of services involved, along with practical experience of commissioning, contract and performance management, and NEC 3 contracts. You'll be adept at stakeholder engagement and take a proactive approach to communicating with members, staff and the public. You'll have a track record of successful achievement in a senior management role, and be able to demonstrate specific examples of excellent service and financial management.

In return, we're offering a senior-level post that will provide you with an excellent opportunity to use and develop your first-rate knowledge and skills, whilst working with an outstanding and dedicated team.
