The small things make a difference

The unitarisation of councils through reorganisation may remove the existing channels to communities, especially in rural areas, says Tracie Langley, 'and it is important not to lose sight of the little things that make a difference to ordinary people'.

I had the privilege of attending the Liberation Day event at St Helier on Jersey last weekend.

We forget that the Channel Islands were occupied during the Second World War and their experience was very different from that of the mainlanders.
