Strategic Director Economy and Place

Conwy is a successful and ambitious Council centred at the heart of North Wales. Our recent Annual Improvement Report confirmed our continued progress and that our key services are making a good contribution to the lives of the citizens of Conwy.

We are committed to delivering quality services at the heart of our communities and believe that a prosperous economy and thriving communities will provide the basis for the improved well being of the area and in particular the people and the businesses the Council serves.

We are looking for a politically astute team worker with imagination and drive who will complement our established team. The post holder will take a lead role in supporting and developing the economic well being of the County Borough and as a key member of the Leadership Team will help to develop and implement strategy.

Candidates must have a track record of senior management experience in a large and complex organisation with evidence of successful delivery of strategic outcomes. A clear understanding of the culture and heritage of the communities we serve is essential. Previous experience of economic development, regeneration and European funding is desirable.

The ability to communicate fluently in Welsh and English is essential for this post. For an informal discussion with Iwan Davies, Chief Executive please contact Jaci Doran on 01492 576015 or email here.

APPLICATION FORMS TO BE RETURNED BY MIDDAY 23/02/2012.

A Criminal Records Bureau check may be required for the successful candidate for the above post. If not informed within 3 weeks of the closing date, candidates must assume they have not been shortlisted for interview and will therefore not be notified in writing.

In promoting equal opportunities Conwy welcomes applicants from all sections of the community. All disabled applicants who meet the essential job requirements will be guaranteed an interview. Bordered to the north by a magnificent coastline and encompassing a huge section of Snowdonia National Park, it's safe to say that Conwy is a truly beautiful part of the country.

At Conwy County Borough Council the broad range of careers we offer is matched by an equally extensive list of employee benefits. If you're interested in working for the region's largest employer's visit the website here and apply by email here or call 01492 576124.
