Opportunities in Sheffield's New Highway Maintenance Service.

Sheffield is one of the UK's largest cities and has been transformed over the last 10 years with major investment in regeneration and infrastructure. One of the final pieces of the jigsaw to fulfil the Council's vision of being a modern vibrant city is to bring the City's highway infrastructure up to standard.

The Council has recently appointed Amey as Service Provider for a 25 year Highway Maintenance PFI contract, commencing in August 2012, to improve the condition of the highway network over the initial core investment period (5-7 years) and to sustain this condition over the remaining period (18-20 years).

The Council is in the process of establishing a new Highway Maintenance Service with responsibility for highway maintenance in the City, primarily through the strategic and operational management of the PFI Contract. The Council is looking for suitably experienced people with drive, enthusiasm and commitment to fill various posts.

If you want to know more about the roles, the selection process or any other information, please contact:

* For posts in the Technical Section, contact Ian Kirby at his email here

* For posts in the New Works Section, contact Philip Beecroft at his email here

We particularly welcome applications from women, ethnic minority communities and people with disabilities as all are under-represented in this area of work - Section158 of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

Due to the level of organisational change within the Council, all vacancies that are advertised may be withdrawn at any stage if matched with an employee who is being made redundant.

This not only mitigates a redundancy but helps the Council to retain talent. You will be notified directly if this happens and you have submitted an application.

Closing Date: 23 May 2012.

Please complete a form on-line at www.sheffield.gov.uk or email here to request an application form or to submit a completed form. Alternatively telephone HR Connect on 0114 273 4299.
