A sudden outbreak of political turmoil at Westminster has left a cloud of uncertainty hanging over local government.

Angela Rayner's resignation sparked a reshuffle that led to her being replaced at the helm of the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) by Steve Reed.
