Unions raise general strike threat

Unite prepares blueprint for first full scale national walkout since 1926.

A leading trade union has drawn up proposals to stage the country's first general strike since 1926, it has emerged.

Unite, which represents 1.5 million members will outline plans to hold a mass 24-hour national walkout involving public and private sector workers at this month's general council meeting of the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
