Councils under pressure over worker safety

Local authorities are under increasing pressure to resolve issues of social distancing for refuse and other workers, with no clear guidance available.

The National Joint Council (NJC) of unions and local government employers’ have written to local authorities highlighting their responsibility to ensure staff are safe. But while the NJC points to  guidance, it stops short of making recommendations to councils.
