ONS data will help councils tackle child abuse

Manchester City Council has become the latest in a long line of authorities that has held its hands up following historical failures to protect children from sexual exploitation.

A report into the failings of Operation Augusta this week found that public authorities knew youngsters were being ‘subjected to the most profound abuse and exploitation’ but failed to protect them.
