Ahead of LGR decisions, tribalism hasn't had the chance to take hold in Norfolk

LGR offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to fix what currently frustrates us in local government and design something even better, says Maxine O'Mahony.

At the time of writing, Norfolk is awaiting the Government's decision on whether a one, two, or three unitary authority model will be implemented in the county.

Norfolk's local government chief executives collectively agree that our people are the most important part of the local government reorganisation (LGR) process, so ahead of the Government's decision we recently brought together more than 250 senior officers from across our eight county and district councils. It was an event months in the planning, designed to kick-start a Norfolk-wide LGR community – and what a brilliant event it turned out to be.
