Assistant Director, Children's Social Care

Salary to £86,000

There is no denying that Rochdale's children's social care service has been through a difficult and challenging 18 months. We have been in the national headlines for all the wrong reasons – but we are now striving to be an authority that sets the standards. On the front line there are dedicated, caring people working tirelessly, day in, day out to keep young people in our borough safe from harm. Together we've taken a number of really important steps towards better protecting children. We know we've got a lot more to do – but our goal is nothing less than excellence.

The appointment of a new assistant director for children's social care is a crucial one. With responsibility for a wide range of services including all social work teams, child protection, referral and assessment, looked after children, fostering and adoption, and residential homes, the new postholder will be firmly at the heart of our improvement journey.

That is not to say you will be on your own – far from it. As well as having full political support and the close backing of our chief executive, we have a highly respected and experienced interim director of children's services who will offer a huge amount of leadership and guidance.

If you want to find out more about joining the team which is transforming the Borough, please view this website or talk to our advising consultants Luke Judd on 0113 205 6077 or Duncan Ewart on 0113 205 6092.

Closing date: Friday 26th April.
