Sound and informed legal advice and support will be essential to realising the Council's objectives. You'll provide strong leadership to our Legal Services team ensuring that the Council can rely on a proactive and outcome-focused strategic resource that adds value and supports effective decision-making and risk mitigation. You'll also fulfil the role of Monitoring Officer and it's important that you can demonstrate the political awareness to provide appropriate challenge and advice that will support effective governance in a democratic setting.

A qualified solicitor or barrister, you should be able to offer considerable experience in managing legal and democratic services, and a track record of leading improvement.

Your technical expertise and personal impact will be key in establishing rapport and trust with senior colleagues and with Elected Members. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a service through change in an organisation with clear strategic direction and ambitious plans for the future.
