Cambridgeshire CC has opened an online book of congratulations allowing anyone to send their wishes to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – following the birth yesterday afternoon of their son, HRH the Prince of Cambridge.
In addition, books have been placed in the reception areas of Cambridge City Council, Cambridgeshire CC and Peterborough City Council.
Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Hugh Duberly CBE said: ‘I am sure many people will want to join me in sending their own personal messages to the couple and the books of congratulation which have been established across the county will enable them to do just that.'
In London, Westminster City Council has marked the birth of the royal prince, who is third-in-line to the throne, by turning the Golden Jubilee and Waterloo bridges, as well as the Marble Arch fountain blue.
A council spokeswoman told The MJ the baby's birth would be registered with Westminster's registrar team in due course.
‘Just like everyone else around the country, we are obviously thrilled at the news,' said Westminster City Council leader Philippa Roe.
‘We also give a special welcome to our latest Westminster arrival and, of course, add our congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
‘We will be working with Kensington Palace to register the birth of the baby,' Ms Roe added.
