David Miliband has agreed to chair a commission on youth unemployment set up by ACEVO in the week official figures revealed just under one million, or one in five young people, are out of work.
According to the latest Office of National Statistics quarterly labour market update, the unemployment rate for 16-24 year-olds stands at 20.2%, or 949,000 young people. Of this number 671,000, or 18.8% of the age range, are not in full-time education or training, a rise of 0.5% since March's figures.
