Director of Children's Services

Salary to £120,000

Rochdale is changing – not only the borough, which is currently undergoing a huge physical transformation with £1 billion worth of regeneration taking place, but the council as well. We are ambitious, forward thinking, and determined to provide the best possible services for our communities.

There is no denying that we have had our issues – not least in children's social care, where we have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the last 18 months. But we have already made huge strides in this area under the leadership of a very experienced interim DCS, and performance and morale is improving all the time. We feel optimistic about our prospects but removing the ‘notice to improve' is not enough. We are aiming for excellence, and we want our new Director of Children's Services to help us get there.

We are therefore looking for an inspirational and determined leader, with a track record of success at a senior level in children's services, who wants to make their mark in Rochdale – and of course help change the lives of thousands of children and young people for the better.

If you want to find out more about joining the team which will transform the Borough, please view this website or talk to our advising consultant Luke Judd (0113 205 6077).

Closing date: 7 June 2013.
