Are you an existing Finance Director or ambitious Head of Finance who is ready to take on a new challenge in a progressive authority? If yes, this may be your next career move…

We are looking for a natural leader with a finance background, who will oversee a directorate responsible for a broad range of services including finance, revenues and benefits, audit and risk, estates management, legal and democratic services and IT, through five direct reports and 70 staff overall, all committed to providing outstanding customer service.

Our ambition is that services are delivered in the most cost effective and efficient way through lean thinking, technological enhancement and cultural change. You will help us to make this a reality, with the aim to maximise existing resources to ensure people, process and technology are combined to perform at optimum levels, to the benefit of residents.

To do this, you will be expected to demonstrate an unfaltering drive for innovation and continuous improvement, to help us manage the challenges that local government faces.

In doing this you'll use your credibility and robust stakeholder management to develop positive working relationships with elected councillors, directors, senior managers and external partners.

Although a public sector background is not essential, you must have the ability to make a transition into Local Government and a good understanding of the local government agenda and be CCAB qualified.

If so, we want to hear from you.

In return we offer you a chance to broaden your experience and enhance your skills, as well as a generous salary, further boosted by a car and subsistence allowance, performance-related bonus and relocation package.
