Governance Team Jobs at Herefordshire

Governance Services Manager

£34,549 - £38,042 per annum, 37 hours a week,

Scrutiny Officer

£26,276 - £30,011 per annum, 37 hours a week

Brockington Offices, Hereford, Permanent.

Herefordshire is one of England's most westerly counties bordering Wales and, along with neighbouring Shropshire to the north, forms part of an area known as the Marches. Views to the west are dominated by the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons, which is one of Britain's eleven national parks. To the east, the county is bordered by the Malvern Hills and, in between flows the Wye River and its tributaries, the Lugg, Arrow and Frome.

With the exception of the City of Hereford and the five market towns of Leominster, Ross on Wye, Ledbury, Bromyard and Kington, the county is mainly rural, and is the second most sparsely populated county in England. Located centrally in the county, Hereford has a population of 56,600 people, approximately 32% of the Herefordshire total population. This is growing at a faster rate than national averages, predominantly as a result of inward migration.

These are exciting opportunities to join the Governance Team and help shape the support provided to Councillors and influence the way things are done.

We are seeking candidates who will strive to make a difference and who have substantial experience of working in a political environment.

The Governance Services Manager will play a significant role in the leadership of the Governance Services Team and the way support is proved to elected members. You will bring dynamism and enthusiasm and your leadership will ensure successful working relationships with other service areas.

The Scrutiny Officer will play a major role in ensuring our new scrutiny model works effectively and will require to establish credibility with a range of professionals across the organisation.

If you would like an informal discussion about either of these opportunities then please contact John Jones, Head of Governance on 01432 260222.

Please note that CVs are not accepted. To apply for these positions please visit our website or contact The Recruitment Team on 01432 260028, email the team here.
