Helping authorities focus on the things that matter

You might have noticed we’re using this issue of The MJ to launch our next major transformation programme across the sector – the ‘What Matters’ health and social care campaign.

You might have noticed we're using this issue of The MJ to launch our next major transformation programme across the sector – the ‘What Matters' health and social care campaign.

What Matters will see the creation of new service models and tools to support care authorities as they enter a critical couple of years in balancing the books and integrate care around the patient.

Ranging from projects which use the latest digital platforms to support independent living and personalised care, through to service models that significantly reduce resource while ensuring service users get faster, easier access to care, What Matters will apply the best models of health and wellbeing from within the sector, as well as tryout tools and techniques from around the world.

We've showcased some of the early projects in this edition of The MJ – and will continue to publish transformation best practice through the magazine.

Our core purpose and approach, however, will remain the same – we reinvest profits into collaborations and projects with partner authorities, and then share that practice with others so the whole sector can benefit.

That's why we're asking authorities to send us their proposals for new care models pilots, with the best one receiving £50,000 of free iESE support to help make it a reality.

We will also continue to expand support for new ways of working – our first Innovation Club event dedicated to providing a network for transformation directors took place a couple of weeks ago to a positive audience.

As the pace of change has increased, iESE has fast grown into the most knowledgeable resource for local authorities in sharing best practice around change, with new projects being added every month. There couldn't be a better time to join us.

You can access all the combined experience of iESE and our member councils, free of charge, by registering with us as a member at iese.org.uk.

To find out more about What Matters and the £50,000 health and social care challenge join us at the SOLACE Summit at Stand 32 or attend the What Matters sessions in the Innovation Hub on Day 1 (2pm), Day 2 and Day 3 (both at 9am).
