WORKFORCE

Early Intervention and Prevention Assistant Director

Establish new ways of working to deliver the best possible services.

At the London Borough of Barnet, we believe in making changes that will bring positive results. Our goal is to serve our community to the best of our ability and we place the people of Barnet at the heart of everything we do. Establishing better ways of working is important, but it's the impact they have on our borough that's paramount. We're undertaking a major transformation to bring commissioning to the heart of what we do.

You'll be responsible for the provision of a range of important early intervention and prevention services. To deliver them, you'll need to work with a range of internal and external partners, managing relationships and contracted services, while monitoring performance. A collaborative approach will therefore be crucial.

You'll also need the sort of innovative and entrepreneurial thinking that will bring results. One of the most important aspects of this role is supporting the development of new commissions and building on traditional service delivery models. You'll need the imagination to create improvements, but also the experience to tackle a range of complex operational issues and tailor corporate policies into relevant operational frameworks.

The Assistant Director for Early Intervention & Prevention will be the driving force behind key partnerships, leading on children's health issues and striving to reduce demand for high intensity services. It's therefore essential that you're a senior manager who has worked in a complex Children's Services environment. You understand relevant legislation, the commissioning process and how to manage change. What's more, you are educated to degree-standard (or equivalent), with the ability to manage both projects and finances. A confident, credible leader, you'll have what it takes to network, influence and inspire in this important role.

Expiry date 25 November, 2012.
