Investing in skills for inclusive local growth in Bucks

Buckinghamshire Council’s approach to jobs, employability and skills shows how local leadership can drive inclusive growth and resilient communities, says Rachael Shimmin.

Jobs, employability and skills are the foundation of inclusive growth. Getting all our residents into decent, well-paid jobs is central to our role as councils.

In Buckinghamshire, we've been working both within the council and in the community, doing all we can to leverage change for our residents in this critical area. Over the past year as an employer, we have recruited more than 770 people into council roles, while our internal talent register has helped redeploy more than 50 staff, avoiding redundancy and retaining valuable experience.
