LGA's Budget submission calls for investment and a significant funding increase

Councils are a vital partner for any government, but we need to be empowered, entrusted and resourced, says chair of the LGA Cllr Louise Gittins.

As we approach the Autumn Budget, the central role councils play in solving the country's biggest challenges remains clear. Local government is delivering place-based solutions every day, unlocking inclusive growth, driving innovation, supporting the most vulnerable and embracing technology to transform lives.

However, councils do far more than build homes or digitise services, they tackle complex issues that matter to both local communities and central government, whether meeting rising demand for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) support, tackling homelessness or creating sustainable asylum systems.
