The independent commission into the future and reform of adult social care, chaired by Baroness Casey, is due to report on the first phase of its work this year, setting out its plan for a national care service.

Growing cost pressures in adult social care are no new thing. Adequate and sustainable financial investment will be undoubtedly non-negotiable for the future of adult social care. However, funding alone cannot bring about genuine and lasting reform for the sector.
