Psychiatrist Layla McCay has been appointed as the chief executive of the Association of Directors of Public Health.
McCay will join from The NHS Alliance where she was director of policy, improvement and leadership. She has previously held academic positions at universities across the world.
Retiring chief executive officer Nicola Close, who has led the organisation since 2007, said: ‘Thanks to the commitment and drive of our members, we are seeing promising changes to how public health is viewed by both national and local governments.'
