Policy Officer, Selby District Council

37 hours per week. Temporary Maternity Cover – 12 to 14 Months. We need a hard working, enthusiastic and ambitious person for around 14 months to cover maternity leave in the Policy and Strategy Team. We have an ambitious programme of policy development across all the Council's disciplines including Housing, Climate Change, Human Resources and Planning.

We need an experienced and qualified person who can start straight away and manage themselves to slip seamlessly in to the role without service disruption. Experience of working in a broad range of policy development is necessary, as are skills that would round out the already extensive in-house abilities.

As well as being an all rounder, desirable skills include economic viability assessment, and skills in environmental and climate change areas including Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment.

You will demonstrate a professional outlook and methodical but creative approach to your challenging workload. In return you will receive a remuneration package that includes pension plan, shop discount scheme, flexible working hours and free parking.
