Under pressure: The strain of snap elections

Peter Stanyon says election teams must have the legislation, systems and funding in place if they are to keep on delivering the safe, secure and accurate General Election results expected of them.

The 2024 UK Parliamentary General Election (UKPGE) was well-run. That is the conclusion from a recent UK Government evaluation of electoral reform. It also states election teams met legal requirements across a range of measures.

What the report does not cover is the pressure the electoral community were under to deliver in just a few short weeks.
