Rochdale MBC has selected Burnley BC boss Steve Rumbelow as the authority's new chief executive, following a protracted recruitment process.
Mr Rumbelow, a local government veteran with more than  thirty years' experience has been chief executive at Burnley since  2006.  He was previously strategic director for Manchester City Council  with oversight for housing strategy and regeneration.
 
 Controversy  has stalked the chief executive position at Rochdale since constituency  MP Simon Danczuk helped organise a groundswell of local opposition to  plans to raise the pay of then top officer Jim Taylor's pay by £40,000  to £170,000.
