Unlocking the potential of cities other than London is not optional

Responding to the Government's publication of the Industrial Strategy, Andrew Carter says 'there is no credible route to restarting national productivity growth without fixing the performance of our big cities'.

Last week's Industrial Strategy marks a significant step by Government to put big city regions at the heart of its plan for broad-based national prosperity.

While sectoral focus remains central, this strategy also recognises the vital role that cities play as the ‘engines of the modern economy'.
