Various Director roles - Leicestershire CC

Assistant Director, Transportation

Salary: £88,578

As one of the highest performing Local Authorities in England, Leicestershire County Council is determined to offer its communities the best possible services while also recognising the need to transform the way it works and further increase efficiencies. We are currently recruiting an Assistant Director for Transportation who will play a fundamental role in the future success of the Authority.

Managing around 330 staff and reporting to the Director, the postholder will be at the forefront of a new approach within the Environment and Transportation directorate as we focus on a strategic commissioning/provider approach over time. Leicestershire already has a very strong reputation for its highways and transportation achievements, but our new Assistant Director will need to recalibrate our efforts as we become more customer focused and efficient.

The role will also need to work with neighbouring Authorities, the LEP and corporate colleagues to bolster the economic development agenda. Candidates do not need to have a specific technical background but they will need to have a strong yet inclusive leadership approach, great communication skills, and the ability to bring about service changes whilst delivering savings.

Above all they will need to have a relentless focus on outcomes, putting the customer at the heart of all that we do.

For more information please see www.leadingleicestershire.com or talk to our advising consultants Rabiya Ali (0113 205 6063) or Luke Judd (0113 205 6077).

Closing date: 28 February 2014.
