The council won't be cowed by scaremongering

Great Yarmouth BC is focused on proposals for a new selective licensing scheme to tackle sub standard private rental housing, says Sheila Oxtoby.

Given the demographics and the mix of housing in Great Yarmouth, it's no surprise we have a substantial private rental sector in the borough.

About 60% of those properties are clustered in a handful of wards and – perhaps equally unsurprising – the condition of some of those homes is poor.
