Lambeth LBC is embarking of a ‘service redesign across the whole organisation'.

It comes after the council completed a restructure of its most senior level of management, with posts reduced by 20% this financial year.

A report to senior councillors last week said reducing the number of council directorates from seven to five was a ‘key feature' of Lambeth's financial management approach, with directorates focused on resident and enabling services, and communities, governance and change axed.

The forthcoming phase will involve directorate-led restructures and will include the next most senior levels of management.

A council spokesperson said: ‘Savings worth £84m must be found by Lambeth LBC over the next four years to set a balanced budget as required by law. This means difficult choices must be made about prioritising where the remaining money will go.'
