‘Why are we flying the Gloucestershire flag outside the council offices?' my leader asked as we looked out of the window at Ebley Mill towards the two flagpoles where the ‘Severn Cross', a distinctive blue cross outlined in cream on an apple-green background, fluttered in the summer breeze alongside the Union flag.
We usually fly it on Gloucestershire Day each September. In the preceding June and July weeks, the second flagpole had displayed the Armed Forces Day flag, Rainbow flag and Ukrainian flag in shows of solidarity.
