Government needs to step up to make LGR flourish

LGR can bring lasting benefit for communities across the country but that will require the Government to help councils achieve the goals the two share, writes Richard Wright

So, how was local government reorganisation (LGR) D-Day for you?

For me, I found announcing to my staff the Government's decision to split North Kesteven in two to be the single most emotional thing I've done in local government. This wasn't the decision we, as a council, sought.
