Local government reorganisation: turning uncertainty into meaningful reform

Uncertainty around local government reorganisation threatens progress, but reform can strengthen local services, growth and devolution, says Cllr Richard Wright.

The Government's decision to review the local government reorganisation (LGR) programme, on which we've worked flat out for nearly two years, has hit us hard.

The danger is that the tireless efforts of officers and councillors have been in vain.
