Having covered accountability in my last column, this month I have been musing about good governance – in short, the systems and processes that support good decision-making.
The first prompt for my musings is Nexus, a book I am reading by Yuval Noah Harari about the risks and benefits of artificial intelligence. The author is clear that democracy is not only about the ability to cast a vote but also about preserving vital checks and balances, something that appears to be under attack across the Atlantic and elsewhere.
