In a world that feels shaped by conflict, economic and political instability and environmental pressures, it was uplifting to spend time this week at the Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) discussing the extraordinary vision taking shape on its new Oxford campus. They are on a mission to solve some of the world's biggest and most complex problems.
The scale of ambition is remarkable. EIT is bringing together world-class scientific research, advances in AI and robotics and commercial expertise to tackle issues that affect millions across the globe. They aim to develop faster and more effective vaccines and transform the diagnosis and treatment of major health conditions. They are looking to revolutionise agriculture through crops that can produce more food using less land and fewer resources, while also removing carbon from the atmosphere – thus tackling food insecurity, biodiversity loss and climate change.
