Ofsted set to punish councils for unregistered children's homes

Ofsted is looking to use future inspections to penalise councils that use illegal unregistered children’s care homes.

Ofsted is looking to use future inspections to penalise councils that use illegal unregistered children's care homes.

As part of a crackdown on unregistered homes, it is proposing to hand local authorities with ‘urgent improvement' and ‘needs attention' grades where illegal provision is used and they ‘have not demonstrated determined action' to ensure registered homes are available in their area.
