Cities are where most of us make a home. They are the nation's engines of growth and innovation and critical to economic success at the regional level. They're also centres of cultural vibrancy and diversity and where most public services are centred.
Some 80% of us live in cities, yet our attention focuses on just a few of them. With economic growth the Government's declared number one priority, and local government reorganisation (LGR) now in motion across large parts of the country, there appears to be a disconnect in policy thinking around cities' role in the life blood of the country.
