Local authorities have called for the scaling back of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) despite a backlash as the Government looks to reform the regime.
The Local Government Association (LGA) this week argued more children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) should get the care and support they needed in schools and other mainstream settings ‘without the need for a statutory plan' despite campaigners urging ministers not to cut EHCPs, describing them as ‘precious legal protections'.
