Southampton City Council should consider appointing a deputy chief executive to oversee its transformation programme to improve services, a corporate peer challenge progress review has concluded.

Southampton City Council should consider appointing a deputy chief executive to oversee its transformation programme to improve services, a corporate peer challenge progress review has concluded.

The Local Government Association (LGA) review said the new role is also needed so that the local authority's chief executive Jillian Kay has more time to ‘fully focus on strategically driving the organisation forward'.
