Looking to the future

Local government is facing the duel challenge of increasing demand for services while budgets continue to reduce. Councils have already trimmed the fat from their organisations. Shared services, back office efficiencies and other structural changes are taking a well-trodden path. The need for innovation is clear in the abstract, but what can tangibly be done?

The sector needs ideas for innovation that improve services while also lowering costs, ideas that are easy to implement and likely to work.
