Appetite for construction

Everywhere you look nowadays, opinion polls. Frequently prompting orgies of gloating or anxiety, notwithstanding their psephological merit (margin of error? blip not trend? snapshot not prediction? most seem to neither understand nor care), we will all be heartily sick of them soon.

But that’s not to say that they are entirely without their uses.

For every election in living memory the cry has gone up that housing will be a key issue, but this time it might actually be true. A recent YouGov poll showed that housing is one of the top five issues for voters; and a recent Survation poll showed that 38% of respondents were more likely to vote for a party if they made housing one of its top three priorities for the next parliament.
