Elections officials should be granted indemnity against legal challenges resulting from the rollout of online absent vote applications (OAVA), senior officers’ group Solace has said.
President Matt Prosser has written to minister Baroness Scott seeking legal cover for registration and returning officers, who are personally liable for the running of elections, and to reimburse councils for the cost of any polls that have to be repeated.
