The trade union for council chief executives has demanded employers give them the same pay rise as other local government staff.
In July, unions Unison, GMB and Unite demanded a 10% pay rise, a one-day increase in annual leave, a two-hour reduction in the working week, and a review of workplace stress and mental health.
The bosses' claim comes amid estimates from the Association of Local Authority Chief Executives (ALACE) that its members have ‘seen a very significant real terms reduction in pay over the last 10 years, amounting to 30% or more’.
