Councillors shout, bang tables and threaten to sack officers

‘Stretched’ officers are working in an environment with insufficient corporate capacity at Derby City Council’s most senior officer levels, Local Government Association (LGA) peers have found.

The corporate peer challenge cited reports of a minority of councillors shouting, banging tables and threatening dismissal of some members of staff if they failed to comply with their demands.
