EXCLUSIVE: Whitehall to ramp up Brexit engagement

Whitehall is to ramp up the frequency of its engagement with councils on Brexit as the prime minister faces a crunch House of Commons vote.

It is understood that lead council chief executives will be appointed in each of the nine former Government office regions to act as a focal point, bring together intelligence and understanding, and feed issues into Marsham Street, which is now running regular Brexit teleconferences with representatives from key sector bodies.
