LGA report suggests lifting of council tax freeze

Broxtowe BC should consider lifting its council tax freeze as it begins to use reserves at a ‘significant rate,’ a Local Government Association (LGA) desktop review of the authority’s financial position has suggested.

The review by former Leeds City Council finance director, Alan Gay, warned the savings required for Broxtowe to remain financially stable were a ‘big challenge’ if the authority wanted to protect services.
