Leader's U-turn over chief executive review

Slough Council’s under-pressure leader has been forced into an embarrassing climb-down after he announced an independent review into the recruitment of a new chief executive.

Cllr Sohail Munawar, who remains suspended by the Labour party, but continues in post as leader of the council – effectively as an independent – after allegations that he distributed indecent material in January 2016, had appointed Gravitas Consultancy on Monday.
