Lessons of leadership

These troubling times have thrown-up immense challenges for public service leaders. Your resolve may be galvanised by the response of different public services to the terror attacks in London and Manchester and the horrific fire at Grenfell Tower and its consequences. Or, you may be fearful that you might be found wanting if you were at the centre of a similar event.

For those who reflect on lessons of leadership, there has been much food for thought. We talk a lot about leadership style. The General Election campaign shone the brightest of lights on the approach of the leaders of the two largest political parties. It showed us that, no matter how well you dress things up, the public will quickly home in on the truth.
