Ofsted hits back at criticism

Ofsted has insisted its inspections must continue to sit alongside sector-led improvement despite mounting criticism of the organisation from local government.

The inspectorate insisted there was a need for ‘independent scrutiny’ as condemnation from the sector continued to pile on top of the Local Government Association’s (LGA) October call for an urgent review of Ofsted.
