Many council services could face further cuts beyond 2020 with local tax revenues unlikely to keep pace with rising spending pressures, the independent economics think-tank, the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), has said.
An observation published by the IFS today read: ‘Even if council tax bills are increased by 4% a year, every year, adult social care spending could increase from 38% to 45% of these revenues by the mid-2020s and 55% by the mid-2030s.
